This Privacy Policy describes how 1966 ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our 1966 mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

The App collects information that you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Vehicle information (name, year, VIN, owner details)
  • Damage assessment data and repair cost estimates
  • Photos of vehicles and damage from your device gallery
  • Comments and notes related to assessments
  • Rate templates (labor rates, VAT settings, currency preferences)
  • Contact information when you reach out to us for support via the in-app contact form

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the App, we automatically collect certain technical information:

  • Device Information: Device manufacturer, model, and operating system version
  • App Information: App version, installer source (e.g., Google Play Store)
  • Advertising Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (GAID) for analytics and attribution purposes
  • Network Information: Network connectivity status (to verify internet connection)
  • Language Preferences: Device locale for localized notifications and content

1.3 Unique Identifiers

The App generates and stores a unique user identifier (UUID) on your device. This identifier is used to:

  • Maintain app functionality across sessions
  • Provide analytics and improve the App
  • Process support requests

2. Push Notifications

The App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications. When you enable notifications:

  • A unique FCM token is generated for your device
  • You are automatically subscribed to notification topics based on your device language
  • We may send you updates about app features, tips, and important announcements

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. For more information about Firebase's data practices, please review the Firebase Privacy Policy.

3. Data Collection & Analytics

The App may use third-party analytics services to help us understand how users interact with the App and to improve our services:

AppsFlyer

We may use AppsFlyer for mobile attribution and marketing analytics. AppsFlyer may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and app usage data. For more information, please review the AppsFlyer Privacy Policy.

AppMetrica

We may use AppMetrica by Yandex for analytics purposes. AppMetrica may collect device information, usage statistics, and crash reports. For more information, please review the Yandex Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics for Firebase

We may use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect usage statistics. For more information, please review the Google Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Advertisements: The App may display advertisements from third-party networks. These networks may use their own tracking technologies including the Google Advertising ID. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party advertisers. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

4. Photos and Camera Access

4.1 Photo Gallery Access

The App requests access to your device's photo gallery to allow you to:

  • Add photos to vehicle profiles
  • Store damage photos in the photo vault
  • Attach photos to damage assessment items

All photos you select are stored locally on your device and are not automatically uploaded to our servers.

4.2 Camera Access (Contact Form)

When using the in-app contact form (which opens in a web browser view), you may be prompted to allow camera access. This enables you to take photos directly to attach to your support request. Photos submitted through the contact form are transmitted to us for the purpose of addressing your inquiry.

5. Calendar & Reminders

The App may allow you to save events and reminders to your device's system calendar. This feature helps you schedule follow-up appointments, inspection dates, and repair deadlines.

Important: When used, all calendar data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties. The calendar integration operates entirely locally on your device.

You can control calendar permissions through your device settings at any time.

6. Location & Navigation Services

The App may request GPS location access for navigation and mapping features. Location services may be used to:

  • Help you navigate to repair shops or inspection locations
  • Record the location where damage assessments are conducted
  • Provide location-based services and recommendations

Important: When location services are used, we do not collect or store your location data on our servers. Location data is processed locally on your device.

Third-Party Mapping Services

If the App uses third-party mapping services, these providers may have their own data collection practices:

7. Fitness & Health Data

The App may allow you to input personal fitness data such as weight, height, and other health metrics for certain assessment calculations or personal record-keeping features.

Important: When used, all fitness and health data is stored locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted to our servers, shared with third parties, or synchronized across devices.

8. Local Data Storage

The App stores data locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms. This includes:

  • Vehicle profiles and assessment history
  • Photos and documentation in the photo vault
  • User preferences and settings
  • Draft and finalized assessment reports
  • Cost calculation templates and labor rates
  • Incident checklists

This data remains on your device and is not automatically transmitted to external servers unless you explicitly choose to share or export it (for example, by generating and sharing a PDF report).

Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You can manage your data through the App, including:

  • Deleting individual assessments or vehicles
  • Clearing photos from the photo vault
  • Uninstalling the App (which removes all locally stored data)

9. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's functionality
  • Improve and optimize the user experience
  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance features
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests
  • Send push notifications about app updates and features (with your consent)
  • Detect and prevent technical issues
  • Measure app performance and marketing effectiveness

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent: When you explicitly agree to share information (e.g., submitting a support request)
  • For legal reasons: When required by law or to protect our rights
  • With service providers: With trusted partners who assist in operating the App (subject to confidentiality agreements), including:
    • Firebase (Google) for push notifications and analytics
    • Analytics providers as described in Section 3
  • Aggregated data: Anonymous, aggregated data that cannot identify you individually

  • Network communications use secure HTTPS connections
  • We follow industry best practices for data protection

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International Data Transfers

If you use the App outside of your home country, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

13. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

14. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request access to your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Restriction: Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
